Ingredients

Mushroom Base
  • cups mushrooms sliced
  • onion finely chopped
  • cloves garlic minced
Cream Sauce
  • cup heavy cream
  • tbsp butter
  • tbsp olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper
Optional Additions
  • cup parmesan grated
  • tsp thyme fresh or dried

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Skillet
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Wooden Spoon

Method

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat until melted and slightly foamy.
  2. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent, stirring for even texture.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook briefly until fragrant without burning.
  4. Add mushrooms and cook until they release moisture and turn golden with a tender bite.
  5. Pour in cream and simmer gently until the sauce thickens and coats the mushrooms smoothly.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and optional parmesan or thyme, then serve warm with your favorite base.

Notes

Cook mushrooms longer for deeper flavor and slightly crisp edges, or shorter for softer texture. Avoid overcrowding the pan. Freeze sauce separately for best results. Reheat gently to maintain creaminess. Add spinach or pasta for variation. Store leftovers refrigerated up to three days.
